Position Summary

We’re looking for a Senior Accountant to join our team at our Albuquerque, NM headquarters. The Senior Accountant will be responsible for managing accounting operations across the organization’s five-state region, including grant and contracts compliance and administration, loan servicing, and year-end audit preparation.


The Senior Accountant:

  • Performs advanced accounting and related functions in such areas as ledger maintenance and monthly closing, cost and/or financial analysis, fund reconciliation, posting, and loan portfolio control.
  • Oversees the daily activities of the accounting and operations department including supervising and training the Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Payroll, and Loan Processing functions.
  • Analyzes complex financial and operating data and prepares management reports, financial statements, and projections.
  • Ensures all accounting functions and programs are maintained in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and Governmental Accounting Standards.
  • Performs analysis and generates reports of the loan portfolio and donor base.


  • Passion for Accion’s mission and a strong commitment to Accion’s culture of exceptional customer service, excellence and accountability.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, business, or finance plus five years’ experience in a non-profit setting; Master’s Degree and/or CPA certificate preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
  • Supervisory experience preferred.
  • Accounting experience for loan operations preferred.
