Accion was founded in Albuquerque, NM, USA in 1994. Since then, the organization has provided over 12,977 loans totaling more than $126.7 million to some 8,469 small businesses in 573 communities in Arizona, Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico, and Texas. Accion extended its services to existing and aspiring entrepreneurs in Nevada in 2014, and to Texas in 2015. Accion’s work is creating tangible economic impact, with an estimated 17,823 jobs created or sustained by the organization’s client businesses.

Accion is dedicated to providing an essential alternative to the economic distress characteristic of many communities. By offering character-based business loans at fair market rates with quick turnaround times, Accion is bridging the “credit gap” that can prevent hardworking and visionary entrepreneurs from reaching their full potential. Accion’s clients represent the foundation of the American economy—individuals who reach deep within themselves to overcome obstacles and realize a dream of economic independence.

Our product suite comprises web applications that will be used by our staff internally as well as having public-facing sections too. We are looking for a user-experience designer responsible for conceiving and conducting user research, interviews and surveys, and translating them into sitemaps, wireframes and prototypes. You will also design the overall functionality of the applications, iterating upon it to ensure a great user experience, and work hand-in-hand with developers to ensure the proper implementation of the designs.

    Responsibilities

    • Facilitate product visions by researching, conceiving, wireframing, sketching, prototyping, and mocking up user experiences for the web applications.
    • Design and deliver wireframes, user stories, user journeys, and mockups.
    • Optimize designs for a wide range of devices and interfaces as required.
    • Identify design problems and devise elegant solutions.
    • Make strategic design and user-experience decisions related to core, and new, functions and features.
    • Take a user-centered design approach and rapidly test and iterate your designs.
    • Collaborate with developers and stakeholders to come up with intuitive workflows for both new and existing features.

    Qualifications

    • Three or more years of UX design experience. Preference will be given to candidates who have experience designing complex solutions for complete digital environments.
    • Expertise in UX software such as InVision, UXPin, Balsamiq, Framer.js, Quartz Composer, and the like is a must. Basic HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript skills are a plus.
    • Ability to work with stakeholders to understand detailed requirements and design complete user experiences that meet needs and vision.
    • Extensive experience in using UX design best practices to design solutions, and a deep understanding of mobile-first and responsive design.
    • A solid grasp of user-centered design, its importance and testing methodologies, subsystems, and usability and accessibility concerns.
    • Ability to iterate your designs and solutions efficiently and intelligently.
    • Ability to clearly and effectively communicate design processes, ideas, and solutions.
    • Be willing to help teammates, share knowledge and experience with them, and learn from them.
    • Be open to receiving feedback and constructive criticism.
    • Be passionate about all things UX and other areas of design and innovation. Research and showcase knowledge in the industry’s latest trends and technologies.
